When catching up with Jon the other day prior to our AWI battle we were chatting, as you do, about what we are currently painting and I explained I have quite a lot of figures half painted and as I have enough storage they just sit about waiting for me to get the urge to pick them up again. He asked which figures had been waiting the longest ?
The answer was a unit of Reconquista Andalusian infantry who had probably been started a couple of years ago but just hadn’t got back to the top of the list again. So I started feeling guilty and said I would get them finished.
Here they are, Artizan figures I think, the shields were a bit of a rush and won’t win any prizes, but they will look fine out on the battlefield
I also had some Dark age Celtic type civilians who had been sat waiting for ages so while the others were drying I finished them as well.
I also took a group photo recently of the Italian force , which I don’t think I shared ? Anyway here they are in their box, the final infantry unit is on the painting table. I don’t plan to expand the force any further as it is now at a reasonable size for Bolt action games, with some flexibility as well.
Thanks for popping by off to play a game this morning 👍
Matt ❤️
The Anda lus look spot on and the Celtic are pretty nifty too. It is always quite satisfying when you go back and finish off something that got left behind. A nice little Italian force you have mustered, I look forward to seeing them in action.
ReplyDeleteThanks Phil hopefully soon for the Italians
DeleteTwo nice units there and always good to get them finished, if and when the mood takes you. I have a tray of ready to start British and Germans for a year now, that are finally (he says) getting onto the painting table. A good sized Italian force too and look forward to seeing more of them in action, especially in Sicily.
ReplyDeleteThanks Steve I have quite a few more part painted figures waiting their turn
DeleteWell done getting those "old" figures finished off Matt - the Celtic civilians are very nice little groups, too. Your Italian force looks nice too - hope to see them in action soon!
ReplyDeleteThanks keith
DeleteGuilt is a powerful tool! Love your Andalusians! Reminds me that I have a number of figures for my Reconquista project to push into the painting queue.
ReplyDeleteWe all have lots of figures to paint !
DeleteWhatever it takes!!! ;)
ReplyDeleteThey look great, Matt.
V/R,
Jack
Thanks Jack
DeleteNice work all round there Matt, well worth finishing them off, should look great on the table.
ReplyDeleteThanks Donnie
DeleteGreat work Matt!
ReplyDeleteThanks Michal
Deleteshame! SHAME! but at least now you are less so.
ReplyDeleteI have some miniatures on my desk that have been partially painted for years. YEARS. It's kinda a fun game that I have, that I play with myself.
Shame indeed I have a few more which need painting 🤔
DeleteGreat looking figures, Matt. Love the colorful shields with interesting patterns.
ReplyDeleteThanks Dean the shields definitely aren’t my best but they will be ok on the battlefield
DeleteNice to see these figures completed Matt, and I bet you got an extra bit of satisfaction for having done so. Lovely work on them.
ReplyDeleteThanks Lawrence yes nice to clear them off the list
DeleteLovely looking figures Matt. I often have half painted figures on my painting desk, the longest is some WSS French cavalry, 3 or 4 years I think
ReplyDeleteThanks Neil…..3-4 years ouch !
DeleteNice work Matt, hope to see them some time.
ReplyDeleteThanks George
DeleteWhen the figures come out that well, it was just inspiration you were waiting for....
ReplyDeleteThanks Joe, they are not my best but they should look ok on the table
DeleteI like the Celts! Italians though? You have my sympathy as I sold on my 20mm Italians eons ago, never won once!
ReplyDeleteThanks David, we’ll see how those Italians do ? They will sometimes be supplemented by Germans in Sicily, and will probably mainly be defending ?
DeleteLovely looking Spanish and Celts and nice looking Italian force!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Thanks Iain 👍
Delete'Just like that', a unit, some characters and a force completed (even if the latter had been done earlier). Love the colour and details on the Andalusian foot's shields and those Celts are so full of character. Beautifully executed, all.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes, James
Many thanks James 👍
DeleteAbout time you slacker. Italians look great
ReplyDelete🙂
DeleteVery nice indeed Matt…
ReplyDeleteI don’t actually have that many half painted figures staring at me demanding to be finished…
It’s the embarrassment of unpainted casting that are living inside/on the Lead Alp… That give me the fear…🙀
All the best. Aly
Thanks Aly…….we all have a fear space, the lead pile certainly should only be visited during daylight hours
DeleteSometimes all it takes is a 'nudge' by a friend to get the urge. Often for me, its always a crunch getting stuff ready for the next game! Thankfully some of the others have done a bunch of the critters already!
ReplyDeleteThanks Terry 👍
