Hessian Jägers and a Norwegian treat !

I mentioned on the previous post I had painted some more stuff last week but these needed finishing off with bases etc.

Two six man units of Hessian Jägers this is the first group with White trousers
And all twelve together the second unit has green trousers to give a little variety all are Perry Miniatures 👍

Next up a little indulgence, having started messing with Norway in 1940 I realised I needed a Neubaufahrzeug, reading around a bit they only made about five but famously three of these ended up in Norway and saw action with very limited success. Apparently the armour was so thin the BEF antitank rifles could knock them out (here’s hoping). Anyway after a bit of searching I could find a suitable 28mm model. But having contacted a company on eBay 3d_printing_valley_ltd they were able to print me one. They have now made these available if you are interested. I should say the tanks they produce are of a very high quality, not an expert but they use the newer resin medium which is translucent rather than the grey stuff, this gives a very clean and detailed product. I do have some British tanks from them which I haven’t painted yet and the quality is fantastic. Anyway here is the model as it arrived they had sprayed it so they could use the picture on eBay. I would recommend the company to others👍

Those with a good knowledge of early German tanks will notice this is a mark 1 and actually the models in Norway were slightly different, mainly the turret and gun configuration, but I am not that much of a bean counter.
I decided in the end to remove the communication system as this, whilst very nice wasn’t used on the Norway tanks, very easy to paint up although having looked at the picture I might just add some more weathering.

I am still waiting for some more Norwegian troops to arrive but hopefully this will get a run out soonish, of course it may well see some service in future Operation Sealion games ?

Keep safe Matt 😀

  3. Lovely toys Matt… As always.

    I do like the tank… it’s got a classic 1930s look to it…
Didn’t a couple end up on the Russian Front…

    All the best. Aly

    1. If Wiki is to be believed then yes a couple found their way to Ukraine. The slightly sad thing is that none remain and all that does remain again from wiki are some gear parts in a museum in Norway 😢

  6. Those Jaegers are rather nice and I love the tank, which I really want to have in 10mm. I think they were mainly for propaganda purposes but did see action in the end.

    1. Yes according to wiki they were used as propaganda leading upto the war. They definitely saw action in Norway and it is thought possibly in Ukraine too ?

    1. The quality of this model and the British tanks I have bought are really superb and hard to challenge given they are currently retailing about half or 2/3 reds the piece of other models

  8. Those Hessians look great, and the faces are full of character. The smooth surfaces on the tank make gives the appearance of a high-quality resin model than one which has been 3D printed, and your paint job looks great.

    1. Thanks Lawrence they really are very high quality models, you can see some striations on a couple of the flatter surfaces but others wise they are very clean. At the end of the day I am a wargamers rather than modeller !

  13. Nice figures, the Neubaufahrzeug looks like a resin ‘print’ job with no layer lines very cool, my Malaya 1942 campaign Lanchester is done the same way.
