Prussian Wied Fusiliers and Battleground Show

A busy start to the week at work but I have managed to finish off the next SYW regiment

The Wied Fusiliers they seem to have a very characteristic red/bronze hat which you can’t quite see in the picture, but they are a nice sculpts, when I bought a big box of Pendraken Prussians it included several different sculpts and I quite like these ones advancing
As noted in the previous post I attended the Battleground Show at the weekend. Putting on a small participation game with Vikings versus Muslim in Al Andalus. The picture shows the set up for each game, I thing I played the scenario six times on the day. All seemed to enjoy the experience, what was nice was I was able to link it to the new Lion Rampant supplement A Viking in the sun. I also had a number of lengthy conversation with people about the book, my terrain seems to create some interest and lots of people came to take photos or pass comment, so a good day. I sadly didn’t get a chance to really look at any other games.
I did rush around and grab some stuff really just to support a couple of traders, picking up a few bits and bobs as above.
The craters is really lazy as I should have made them but they were a very reasonable price from Ironclad Miniatures and really easy to paint up, so we will see these soon on a battlefield. In hindsight I’m not sure about the grass now so that might get scrapped off ?

Thanks as always for looking 👍

  4. Those Prussians look excellent Matt. Glad you had a good day at the show and had plenty of interest in your game, which looked good. I spy a Henschel Hs 123 amongst your items bought, a plane I would like to get in 1/144th, as I think it's a great design and one I had as a kid IIRC.

    1. Eagle eye Steve , bit of a story behind that, I travelled over to the show with good buddy and was bemoaning the complex construction of the Storch, and I said I really didn’t want or need any more German planes in 1 48 scale ! He found it in one of the second hand stalls (crazy cheap) and bought it for me to wind me up ! So I was thinking of building it as a crashed plane ?

  6. Those Prussians are rather grand indeed. Your game went down rather well by all accounts, it looked great on the video reports. A nice haul of stuff too.

  7. The 10mm look super, did the wizard Harry Potter do the cross belts? they are impossibly good! I think the grass on the craters is in good balance with the pieces, Ironclad are superb.

  9. Your tables always look great, and the Viking game is no exception. A great effort putting it on six times. The grenadiers look great, and I'd be tempted to leave the grass on the craters, just to provide a bit of colour.

  10. Your fusiliers look great, Matt! I have become so accustomed to seeing my SYW infantry in marching pose, an advancing pose is quite a surprise. Very good to see that your game came off a success. Napoleonics in 28mm? A new project? Well done on all fronts!

    1. Pendraken do I think four poses for each infantry figure, but you only get one in each pack of 30, when I bought these they came in a bulk buy with one of each pose I think ?

  11. Glad you had a successful day at the show Matt and looks like a good collection of "stuff". I would leave the grass, it adds a nice little bit of colour to the craters.

    1. Thanks Iain. For the Napoleonics I am going to focus on Peninsular. This allows me to start smallish and build up gradually. Having worked up a collection of AWI I know what I am capable of and slow and steady progress will be fine.
