Finally shaking of the bug and increasing energy and enthusiasm for hobby stuff. This week as well as painting some more Napoleonics, which are not finished, I have been filling out my German 15mm force with some Hanomag transports. I had picked up a couple of older metal models as part of a large second hand purchase. These have been supplemented by a cheap box of five by the PSC.
I have stuck with the same rough hand painted camo scheme as the armour after all they are 15mm, they are transports and this is only a random hobby diversion so create a late war force to battle against my late war Americans.
As the table was clear I thought I would get the German force out for a parade, certainly enough to battle with, I have more infantry and a few more support vehicles. To be true to the period I really need a couple of 88’s I think. But hopefully we’ll see these on the battlefield sometime later in the year 👍
They look very nice
ReplyDeleteThanks Neil
DeleteThey will most definitely do!
ReplyDeleteWill do for me 👍
DeleteAn impressive looking force matt and I would not be concerned about the hand painted camo scheme ...as I understand it vehicles were delivered ex the factory in dunkelgelb with a couple of pails of green paint - and the troops applied this using yard brooms and at the discretion of their commanding officer - so you have plenty of leigh way! As an aside, my dad told me once about the frustrations of service in the British Army of the 1950's. Each CO had his own ideas on blanco and the correct colour for 37 pattern webbing. No sooner had the hapless squaddie perfected the colour his CO favoured, and either a) the CO was replaced or b) the soldier was transferred to another unit. Either way, it was virtually guaranteed that the colour painstakingly achieved over weeks of hard work would be "incorrect" and the whole process would start again!
ReplyDeleteThanks Keith you have helped my conscience on the camo, I see so many beautiful versions on peoples blogs my hand painted version looks a bit rubbish. But now I know they simply painted mine in a rush 👍
DeleteVery nice indeed Matt…
ReplyDeleteIt’s turning into a nice little collection…

Deletegood to see you today, the germans look fab in the flesh. Can't believe how opportune my gift of 88's was, they have been in the box for weeks.
ReplyDeleteThanks Martin….and thanks indeed your very kind gift of the 88’s was opportune indeed !
DeleteThese look great Matt. Good to hear you are getting over the effects of COVID. It certainly seems to have knocked you around a bit, as it has many people.
ReplyDeleteThanks Lawrence, the second cold does seem to be a different strain but nearly over it now
DeleteGreat looking force, lovely looking camo on your halftracks!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Thanks Iain
DeleteNo good putting effort into transports as most rules will have them blowing up left and right or only briefly on the table…lol. 😀
ReplyDeleteStill I like them and the army pic reminds me of my Flames of War days.
You might be right Stew they will get blown early but at least my troops can get to the battlefield now
