Although there were technically five objectives the lizards and their thralls appeared more intent on killing the fine human warriors who had inadvertently entered their jungle. The scene was set could the fire power of the Tallarn kill enough lizards before they got into combat !
Multi coloured lizards race across the table
They appear to have dinosaurs as well
The men folk dig in and let lose with their supporting artillery
We were using xeno rampant as an easy ruleset, the Tallarn as light infantry get quite a lot of free movement and some free shooting, the lizards foolishly haven’t invented long range weapons other than a few rudimentary blowpipes.
The Tallarn have tanks too. I thought I had taken more photos than I did, anyway, anybody who deployed on the left of the river got eaten pretty quickly, but the Lizards really struggled to break into the tank. The heavy support weapons in the centre killed lizards in their droves.
On the right a titanic struggle took place which in the first phase went to the dino, who knew they were so tough ! luckily the warriors were able to call in support weapons who drove the dinosaur back and then eventually brought it down.
As the weather has been rubbish I have contented myself with painting
Commanded shot for the ECW
Finished off some penal colony imperial guard to support my Tallarn, these are Wargames Atlantic figures with some kit basing using GW stuff
And just this morning I finished off some smaller ECW cannons…..nearly there for the ECW
Another game planned for Friday which will hopefully get the Naps back on the table.
Thanks as always for checking by Matt ♥️
The jungle game looks cool Matt although the sci-fi stuff isn't really my thing! Some nicely done new units there too.
ReplyDeleteThanks Keith….variety the spice of life but back to something historical soon, while the lizards regroup
DeleteThe sci fi game looks super Matt, lovely table and figures on show there. The penal contingent are very nice and should look good when they hit the table, nice bit of cannon fodder! More great additions to your ECW project, nicely done.
ReplyDeleteThanks Donnie, something different at least. The penal guys have explosive collars so I doubt they will last long in battle !
DeleteI remember you painting some of these Tallarn vehicles Matt, so it is nice to see them in action. Your tables really are special, even when they are set on another planet.
ReplyDeleteI agree! Matt models a handsome table no matter the planet! I like the look of this collection and your latest additions to your Tallarn are fab. Actually, they all are!
DeleteThanks Lawrence the jungle table and lizards are all Martins work the Tallarn obviously mine. This was the first big run out for the Tallarn so pleased with how they performed, although they are very lightly armoured !
DeleteThat SF game is reminiscent of a colonial war game. You are going great guns on the painting front too👍
ReplyDeleteThanks Phil, yes pushing on with the painting while the weather is rubbish.
DeleteGood to see you overcame them Lizardy things
ReplyDeleteThanks David, pretty tough to kill those dinosaurs !

DeleteLooked good Matt, bug hunt.
ReplyDeleteThanks I managed to kill a good number of the bugs but the dinosaurs were super tough and very scary !
DeleteA fab looking bash, Matt, the jungle terrain looked the part!! Great looking ECW figs too!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Ray a bit of fun, the jungle is all Martins and in fact he has a lot more in boxes, one might say too much jungle !
Deletefun battle! a little fantasy is good for the soul. 😁
ReplyDeleteLizard and Chips on the menu then? Nice progress on the painting front there too!
