The Battle for Horn Street : Operation Sealion

The German Wehrmacht officers have climbed to the top of St Michael's church to discuss the best plan of attack with the Fallschirmjager Oberleutnant. From this vantage point they can see down Horn Street, over the railway bridge right up to the junction with the A20 and the outskirts of Cheriton to the East. Whilst they can see very limited activity in the area they know their task is to take and secure the road junction to prevent allied troops using the A20 to reinforce Folkestone, allowing the Fallschirmjager dropped earlier in the morning to take the harbour with only a limited fight. It is obvious from this position that their main challenge will be getting enough troops across the railway cutting before the allies can reinforce the road junction.....as they look over their shoulder they can see in the sky the familiar outline of Stuka's which they have called in to delay any allied troops reaching the Area........as they climb back down the tower they are quietly confident 😀

    1. Thanks Simon, table is eight feet long and mainly five feet wipe, but this is an extension as it usually is set up at four foot for ease.😀 I do have plans to allow a further extension...but I need to find somebody prepared to play games that big.

  9. Nice size of table, im looking at at roughly 7 by 4, i'd like to go a tad wider, but i'd have to knock down my neighbours wall :) Are you going to York next month, im going over with my missus from manchester, doing the York railway museum and towton again.

    1. A bit more detail like many we play most battles at 6x4 so I try to keep this bit of the table easily accessible. The actual table though is 8x4 so for some games we extend (this requires me to tidy up !) then currently for 'big' battles I have a simple extension (basically a glorified strong shelf) which adds another foot width for 6 feet along on edge (this requires some slightly more significant tidying, so only happens for special games, but still allows access all round. The whole table is home made so I have specifically built it taller than average so it is a comfortable height for standing and gaming which I prefer, this does mean any wider and even I couldn't reach the middle. A few visitors already struggle! If I needed I have a plan to extend length wise and could take it to 11 or 12 feet fairly easily but this would give access problems at one end. Our big game on Saturday proved that 8 x 5 with 40 odd units on the table (bolt action) it was big enough. Yes we are planning to go to York very happy to have a coffee catch up, we can fix a time upstairs bar area. My wife would literally kill me if I suggested taking her to a show though 😀
