Managing to keep productive between the chores, to go with the new mats I needed some new roads. The key thing was being able to, flex the set up more than previously which was feeling a little restrictive. As always I wanted something pretty cost effective. Hardboard, paint, sand and a bit of scatter grass did the trick.....
Whilst Ben was making the tea...I tidied up and tried some different setups
Following these experiments I decided to cut one of the longer sections down to give a bit more flexibility at the edge of the table. One of the unexpected but pleasing effects of the mats it the texture allows you to bed the roads down very slightly, this has two effects, stopping them mov.ing about too much and making them sit ever so slightly into the table rather than floating. Obviously what you can see above is I am no longer restricted to the slightly rectangular feel previously. Out of the same piece of hardboard I also cut a similar number of thinner sections which are going to be tracks but not sure when these will get done.
Looks great, no doubt!
ReplyDeleteNice, I did in out of card but they do float.

The roads go ever, on and on.....
ReplyDeleteWell they certainly look the part, great job Matt.
ReplyDeleteNice work, very effective. Having them bed down tight to the table is a bonus.
ReplyDeleteKeep right on to the end of the road....?
