After getting back from America, a week down in London and then Easter away in the van I am finally back at home, for a few days at least.
Not much painting but I have managed to complete the first of the extra Confederate cavalry, the Union are well on the way too, we are hoping for a Cavalry battle in the near future ?
During our Easter trip we visited an interesting Nuclear Bunker near Nantwich in Cheshire, now a museum jammed full of stuff
Lots of Cold War Russian bits
Operations rooms
Some interesting Russian uniforms
As it happens as it was the Easter weekend there were loads of Cold War re-enactment people, they seemed to be having fun ?
Most chilling they have a number of ‘presumably’ de armed nuclear bombs and missile !
Much later than most but here are a couple of shots from Salute of my favourite games, most of which turned out to win the various awards on the day
Napoleonics
Massive what a tanker battle
Beautiful french terrain
And something very quirky !
Some loot, I really only intended to buy some Spanish, had a nice chat to the Perrys and ended up with three boxes ! Also picked up a new Rendra windmill, and a couple of Spanish command figures
Finding history everywhere, we visited Crewe Queens Park over Easter and I noticed this interesting info board
Finally a shot out in the lakes although I haven’t been at home much.
We have a game planned for Saturday and played Rapid Fire over at Martins yesterday. I do need to spend some time painting 😢
Thanks as always Matt
Busy, busy there Matt. Did you sit in the shelter and wait for the impact? Fine looking rebel cavalry.
ReplyDeleteThanks Phil I’m hoping to get the Union cavalry finished soon
DeleteGrass is not growing under your feet! Busy, busy, busy! Fine looking Reb cavalry. I thought the conversion of the old, 1980 Battlezone arcade game was terrific. Played the heck out of that game way back when.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jon just lots of stuff going on…but not enough time for painting 🙁
DeleteKeeping busy there Matt! Tired me out just reading through it. I've been down Hacks Green bunker a couple of times, always a chilling experience.
ReplyDeleteThanks David we certainly enjoyed the bunker an interesting little bit of Cold War history 👍
DeleteVery nice looking cavalry, hope they perform well on the table. Interesting Cold War museum, some really great exhibits on show.

DeleteLooks like you've been very busy! That's a nice haul you have there Matt!
ReplyDeleteThanks Ray I’m looking forward to getting stuck into the Spanish 👍
DeleteYou certainly have been out and about Matt. Were you tempted to give the nuclear bomb a bit of a tap to see if it had been de-armed?
ReplyDeleteThanks Lawrence😂…..I think as mentioned above standing next to these things does make you few slightly odd
DeleteSome nice Rebs there Matt. An interesting bunker, got more stuff than mine.
ReplyDeleteThanks George yes you need more uniforms in the bunker and a bomb or two ?
DeleteGood to see you yesterday. Fought another Barbarossa battle today. Russians lost again but there was a glorious meat wave attack and the T26s were legendary
ReplyDeleteCheers Barbarossa always fun to play 👍
DeleteBlimey, you have been a busy a boy of late! An excellent mix of subjects for us to enjoy:).
ReplyDeleteThanks Steve more to come 👍
DeleteNice update, Matt! Love the ACW cavalry, as well as the shots of the Cold War artifacts and the games.
ReplyDeleteThanks Dean 🙂
DeleteSeems like you are living the best life Matt, long may it continue! A work colleague has visited the US on several extended road trip holidays...he rode with a group of mates on Harleys he whole of Route 66 one time. On his most recent trip, he visited a decommissioned nuclear missile silo, complete with deactivated ballistic missile etc!
ReplyDeleteThanks Keith…….im not sure I would quite describe it as ‘best’ but it beats working.
