Christmas is nearly upon us, the weather has improved which is good. The children are back making the house feel busy. I am managing some hobby time though between family stuff. A couple of things completed in the last few days.
This slightly silly terrain piece (planes don’t really crash like this !) but I picked up from the bring and buy at battleground. It is a single 3D print which had a small broken piece at the bottom of the box. Not wanting to make it too specific I have given it non-specific markings and will probably add some smoke when it is on the table.
Also from the secondhand haul at battleground these ECW cavalry. Not sure on the make but they are quite old softer metal figures. Possibly Essex ? Anyway the riders are very slightly bulky but the horses match quite well with the others I have.
Here they are on the left, Peter Pig in the middle and Warlord epic on the right. They match surprisingly well , indicating once again that the warlord figures are really closer to 15mm than most people think. There was only one unit and a couple of odd figures in the bag but they make a nice extra unit.
It does give me that age old problem, as when they were placed in the box, there is no more space and I have at least 3 more cavalry units in the pile ! It looks like the ECW collection is going to move into its fifth box.
All vehicles are charity shop buys and looking for them is quite an addiction.
Are slightly larger battle is planned….
But for now my daughter has enjoyed rolling some dice in the dungeon which will do for me π
And finally for those loyal readers who have made it this far I pulled together a short 3 minute ‘eye candy’ video of the games (most I think) that we have played in the dungeon in 2025. As to be expected no stats from me and certainly no hint of how much I have spent on my hobbies………just in case my dear wife stumbled across my blog by accident.
Have a great Christmas I will return to my Italian airforce work while the kids are out shopping π

Matt❤️
A great mix of stuff there Matt:)! Sadly no space nor time for anything gaming related, other than reading or planning, which is at least something I suppose. Fortunately SWMBO will in all probablity never look at my Blog, but if she did, words might be exchanged;). Merry Xmas to you and yours too!
ReplyDeleteThanks Steve, if my wife would certainly only be reading my blog by mistake so I’m pretty safe π merry Christmas π π½
DeleteFantastic year, I appear to have lost a lot of games this yearπ. Happy Christmas to all of you. See you in the new year.
ReplyDeleteThanks Martin, merry Christmas, hope your family gatherings are fun and Santa brings some soldiers π
DeleteGreat year for you, Matt! I was lucky to be able to enjoy some of your splendidly presented games. I know the feeling all too well about needing to bring another empty box onto the storage pile. Seems to happen with regularity providing a sense of joy, accomplishment, and yet sorrow. I await tales of the Zombie Apocalypse!
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas!
Thanks Jon….my challenge is finding space for another box !
DeleteSuper post, the crashed plane looks rather good, and nice additions to your ECW collection, they fit in very well. Adding boxes for more figures for a collection is a problem I know only too well!
ReplyDeleteThanks Donnie we all just need more space ?
DeleteI like the plane crash because if the small footprint, good idea to make it anonymous. Nice use of video, some lovely shots. Best wishes for Christmas.
ReplyDeleteThanks Norm, I’ve never seen the plane anywhere before so perhaps it didn’t sell well or a one off ? Anyway I’ll put it on the table sometime so it gets used.
DeleteThe little chaps match up really well together! Nice video feature too, though more trains would also be enjoyed! Even the Zombie game looks good! Well, it is Christmas after all...
ReplyDeleteThanks David…the old ECW figures will hopefully get some table time rather than having sat in a bag for a couple of decades ? Perhaps some trains next time and even zombies ?
DeleteI just saw the material on YT. Great work!
ReplyDeleteLove the zombie games :)
Thanks Michal, really just a selection of photos I have taken during the year, it helps me remember what I have played at least and what changes I have made over the years π
DeleteThanks for this and all the posts of '25. I enjoyed the photo montage and wondered if there's a wargamers edition of the Twelve Days. Enjoy all twelve. Merry Christmas and all the best for 2026.
ReplyDeleteStephen
Thanks Stephen and thanks for continuing to follow along with my exploits π
DeleteGreat idea not providing an expense summary Matt, and for the same reasons I don't (although I think my wife has forgotten I have a blog). The zombie table looks great Matt and I'll look forward to some AARs.
ReplyDeleteThanks Lawrence, in fact I don’t really keep a tally of spending on the hobby anyway, sometimes jut better not to know I think π
DeleteGreat looking painting projects and gaming as always, Matt! Wishing you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, too!
ReplyDeleteThanks Dean, and thanks for following along π
DeleteSplendid, I particularly enjoyed the video.
ReplyDeleteThanks Phil, some gentle eye candy to relax the mind π
DeleteThe montage was excellent, a few were familiar.
ReplyDeleteThanks George
DeleteThose ECW cav look pretty good together. Great little video. What a lovely range of games played. Nice!
ReplyDeleteHappy Christmas.
Many thanks , hopefully a range of games this year as well
DeleteReally like the look of the ECW cavalry, If you start a 5th box for storage I'm sure the rule is that it has to be filled. Merry Christmas
ReplyDeleteThanks Neil I fear another box of ECW will be needed π
DeleteMerry Christmas Matt!
ReplyDeleteGood to see those ECW cav mix so well with your existing collection.
Thanks Neil, yep fit although no idea which make, some of the infantry I picked up are a little too bulky but as a joblot I was happy with the majority
DeleteQuite the bevy of games for 2025 Matt! Wishing you & the family a very Merry Christmas! Looking forward to see what's in store for 2026
ReplyDeleteMany thanks Terry some very enjoyable battles many close to the end. Some collection haven’t seen much action though so I need to think about them in 2026
