British Foot Guards and Kreigsmarine

Spent a bit of time this week tidying up the harbour battle for Battleground tomorrow and checking the setup arrangements. There always seems to be a few extra bits to finish off. Anyway that is done now and ready for travelling in the morning.

1st Regiment of Foot Guards, warlord figures with some of their extra command figures from the older boxes
The Kreigsmarine squad, again Warlord figures for my show game, very characterful set.
My U boat crew, Empress figures
Thought I would share the salvaged french from the recent Lead pile donation, these are the Polish
French
And more french nearly all are Elite miniatures although a few of the command figures are unidentified
A final shot of the game for tomorrow with the figures in place etc…

Thanks as always for checking by

Matt 😀

  1. Looking good Matt - the U-Boot game is going to be a cracker, I am sure - best in show perhaps??

  2. Matt, the preview of your U-boat game is stunning. Beautifully staged and photographed. Like Keith, I wager you are in the running for Best of show. Churning out another Napoleonic unit? I cannot keep up!

    1. Thanks Jon the show doesn’t award a ‘best’ award but it has been fun putting together the scenario. I think a Norway scenario is on the cards so I might get you to play that when I have planned it out ?

  5. Cracking work all round and love the kreigsmarine figures. Your show game does look stunning and as others have said, odds on favourite for best in show...? Have a good day out and hopefully not too icy and frosty for your journey.

  7. Don't think the Stockton shows (in it's various incarnations - Parade Ground/Smoggycon/Battleground - and run by the various organisers over the last twenty-five-plus years) has ever had awards for anything? (Possibly, as Parade Ground, there was an award done by the Military Modellers, judged by the various societies that ran that part of the show?)

Best of luck with the show, today, and hope you all enjoy yourselves. Can't make it myself, as I've an asthma clinic review (so I can be confirmed as eligible to have my Covid and Flu vaccinations), at an inconvenient time. And I agree, the photo of the harbour layout looks splendid.

  8. Matt, the U-boat set up is dramatic, the guardsmen superb, the raw lead predictive of more fun to come. Have fun at the show. Your game will surely be a winner.

    1. Thanks David, I’m told the Elite miniatures improve with painting so I need to roll my sleeves up and get some done, but I need more cavalry first

  11. Nice kriegsmarine reinforcements, I'm sure the game will go down a storm, lovely looking guardsmen and the raw lead looks good, especially the Polish, when I painted my Connoisseur grenadier a cheval they were similar in feel but painted up nicely, set up looks awesome!
    Best Iain
