Slow progress but some more Berber/Arab infantry

Slower progress than I would like but I have completed another Arab/ Berber unit for my Al Andalus project.
Eagle eyed will notice I have changed basing styles from previous figures for this project, firstly I think the units look nice like this, secondly I think I have enough single based figures for any possible skirmish game and storage like this is much easier. I’ll take a shot of the two basing styles together when I get a chance. The unit is very much ‘Berber’ with shields all hand painted so don’t look too close 😩 I still probably need to paint the edge of the banner which is too white.
Updated the post with a picture of most of my Arabs in one place, I didn’t dig out the camel archers and like every good project I have a fair few in the painting que πŸ™‚

  1. Hand painted shields ....... fantastic! Nice looking unit and a posh flag. I do like 6 figures to a base.

    1. Thanks Norm yes the 6 figures gives a nice feel and allows just enough randomness πŸ™‚

  2. I like your basing. Much better than singletons. Your shields are superb! Great job!

    1. Thanks Jonathan......I am quite taken by the multi base and now feel I have enough singles for any skirmish game I might like to play. I am hoping the mixing of the basing styles works ok. I do need to do some work on the movement trays πŸ€”

    1. Certainly plan for more ‘big bases’ for this collection and possibly my other dark age figures as well.

  9. Very nice Matt, hope they carpet the opposition. Another plus for the new basing too.

  10. Nice basing,Im also doing mostly 1p single basing (except Italian wars) and wondering when I have enough for skirmish and can just do big bases! Lovely shields IMHO!

    1. Thanks Iain, I’m happy with the multibase mainly it’s the density of the figures so for this collection I can see me changing, can’t decide about my ancient figures though ?
