Sadly we had to postpone a planned ACW on Friday but another one hopefully planned for tomorrow. Anyway as we pack for our holiday I have been using spare time to crack on with some painting.
American M8 for my US Sicily forces, Warlord model, plastic picked up I think at Partizan last year ?
A new unit of Rebel Militia, in shirt sleeves to add some variety, these are Perry I think and really lovely sculpts, plenty of well defined details. The command group had two flag carriers so I have split them up to give me some options.
Some late Roman heavy cavalry, I’m not sure of their specific name possibly Clibinarii ?I had a few of the yellow shield transfers so thought I would use them up and they are just about ok at a distance. Some of these were repainted to give a full unit. I need to add some more infantry for the late Romans next.
With the ACW on my mind I thought I would spend a couple of days prepping ALL the remaining ACW cavalry I have in the ‘plastic mountain’……quite a lot !
Finally for a quirky last note here is the ‘giants grave’ from our local church yard
It is something of a fake but is quite famous locally
That’s it for now, thanks for checking in, I’m off to set up for tomorrow’s ACW battle
Matt ❤️
Many, many great painted minis.
ReplyDeleteLove the militia, cavalry and M8.
I didn't know they already had them at their disposal during operations in Sicily.
Thanks Michal as far as I know they were built from about 1942, and were then gradually replaced from early 1944. The M8 was built on the smaller Stuart chassis 👍
DeleteReally like the look of the Rebel militia
ReplyDeleteThanks Neil they are particularly nice sculpts lots of good well defined details
DeleteMatt, you are really keeping yourself busy on the painting front. Super looking models all. If only you tracked your production, you might put us all to shame. Enjoy your trip to America!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jon……by my last count I think I painted one less than you 😂
DeleteGrand progress on the painting front. Better lunch with the rescheduled ACW game!
ReplyDeleteThanks David we’ll certainly try for a good lunch 👍
DeleteLovely work on all these figures Matt and the info on the Giants Grave was interesting, too. Have a great holiday!
ReplyDeleteThanks Keith,
Delete👍
Great stuff, see you tomorrow
ReplyDeleteCheers 👍
DeleteSome great variety in there Matt. The Giant's Grave was interesting too. I wonder just how long the long leg bones were. It is a pity it was slightly rearranged in the 17th Century.
ReplyDeleteThanks Lawrence……..I guess in the past anybody extra tall might be considered a giant ?
DeleteSome great stuff coming out of the painting conveyer there Matt.
ReplyDeleteThanks Phil 👍
DeleteSome super painting on show Matt, the M8 is especially good, cracking little model. Interesting read about the Giant's grave as well, very intriguing!
ReplyDeleteMany thanks Donnie 👍
DeleteI do love an M8 AFV! Excellent work on the other figures and the giant's grave is pretty cool, even if it is a fake.
ReplyDeleteThanks Steve…let’s hope the M8 packs a punch ?
DeleteGreat looking M8 , the rebel militia are lovely and I would say the late Roman shields work really well! That doesn't seem like a lot of cavalry, my stick mounted napoleonic cavalry would probably will take up a side table, it's the sticks that take up the space isn't it?! Have fun on your trip!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Thanks Iain, it feels like a Lot of cavalry to me, But you are right I already have loads more Napoleonic french cavalry ! And more waiting to paint Ha
DeleteNice bit if kit that M8 ..
ReplyDeleteThanks Dave let’s hope it picks a punch ?
DeleteNice painting output with a good variety. Good luck with the game.
ReplyDeleteThanks stew, we managed our ACW battle today and will blog it soonish ?
DeleteYour certainly getting through the painting Matt…
ReplyDeleteSome lovely units there…
All the best. Aly
