A quick post just to ensure my loyal followers I’m still alive up here in Edinburgh. The caring is going reasonably well and we finally have a date next week for my Father to move into a care home. Between my general caring duties I have managed to get quite a lot of painting done. The (poor) photo below shows the progress so far.
These are all the finished figures, but as I didn’t bring my basing materials they will still need a little work when I finally get home, but the hard work is done. I am still working on the new Fallschirmjager and some other stuff as well so it will take quite a while to get them all based up.
I have also managed some walks when the weather has been nice. Hopefully life will return to some normality in the next few weeks
Matt
Glad you found time to get some painting done.
ReplyDeleteThanks Ray π
DeleteGood to get some more work done and a lovely picture of Auld Reekie at it's finest!
ReplyDeleteMany thanks Donnie Edinburgh in the sun π
DeleteI can vividly remember the same scenario with my own father so you have my best wishes for all to go smoothly. Glad you got so much painting and strolling done too.
ReplyDeleteThanks David we are doing ok although a few challenges to be expected
DeletePleased you found sometime to get some painting done
ReplyDeleteThanks Neil basically I have set up the painting and when we chat or he falls asleep I just pick up the brushes π
DeleteSome great progress there,Matt! My wife and I ( but mainly my wife) have just spent the last six weeks or so clearing out her 95 year old mums house, finding her an assisted living apartment in a retirement village near us, putting her home of 62years on the market via auction, and then two weekends ago moving her in to her new abode....it was quite a lot of work and stress particularly for my wife...but all done now! Hopefully you get your dad all sorted soon too.
ReplyDeleteMany thanks Keith we are getting close to a more stable situation in the next few days π
DeleteGreat news and work!
ReplyDeleteThanks Michal π
DeleteGlad you father's position is progressing. Terrible photoπ .
ReplyDeleteThanks Martin the photo is all orange due to his curtains in the front room !
DeleteGood to see the portable painting arrangement is working well. I still remember Edinburgh as being a lovely city but also for the worst restaurant meal I have ever had.
ReplyDeleteThanks Lawrence I better not ask which restaurant you were at ?
DeleteGood to see you are able to get painting in around your caring duties. Fingers crossed the care home move gets sorted out OK. Edinburgh nice to walk around if the weather is nice, with great views, apart from the 'turd' roof on the new shopping centre!
ReplyDeleteThanks Steve I have certainly explored Edinburgh much more in the last few weeks π
DeleteGlad you got some down time. Good planning that was. I cared for my dad for about 2 months before I got him situated.
ReplyDeleteThanks Stew between the care stuff he often just falls asleep so plenty of time really
DeleteGood luck with everything Matt, see you when you get back.
ReplyDeleteThanks George hopefully in a week or so
DeleteGlad you managed to find some time to put paint on metal.
ReplyDeleteCheers
Stu
Thanks Stu I am pleased with the production as I have managed to get a fair bit finished off π
DeleteGlad you able to get some hobby stuff in, it all helps to ones well being. Hope all goes well with the accommodation transition.
ReplyDeleteThanks Phil it is certainly taken my mind off the current slightly grim situation of my Fathers decline
DeleteA nice mix of toys Matt…
ReplyDeleteHopefully you will be able to sort out some care arrangements for your father sooner rather than later…
That is a nice photo of Auld Reekie…
I really need to visit my hometown this year…
All the best. Aly
Great progress, lousy photo, hope it works out soon for your dad!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
All the best to you, your dad and rest of your family.
ReplyDeleteI did a similar thing, took some figures to paint when I was looking after my Mum after an op. several years ago. Fortunately she recovered much quicker than expected, which meant that I did not get as much time for painting as expected!
