A painting update…….Italian Armour upgrade

Despite some challenges with my daughter’s health this week (she is fine now) I have managed some painting. First up after the Sicily battle last week I decided the Italians needed some extra heavy support !

Italian super heavy tank CV33
I managed to pick up both of these from eBay at a reasonable price the second is a flame Tank which will no doubt terrify the Americans ?
Ok I probably wasn’t fooling anybody the new armour are Italian CV33 tankettes and here they are compared to my German Tiger they may not be quite so scary but should at least be hard to hit ? And will provide some fun
Another ECW unit has rolled of the painting table
I also painted up these Commanded Foot effectively musketeers detached as a skirmish unit.

Well that’s it for now I will hopefully get some more painting done soon

Thanks for looking Matt ❤️

  3. It honestly must have been embarrassing to be an Italian soldier in the mid war period...their armour looks like it belongs in the BoB theatre!
The ECW troops are superb, once again!

  5. “Managed some painting?” This is more than a week’s effort for most. More fab work, Matt! Those Italian tanks are tiny and your ECW regiment superb. Good to see that your daughter has recovered.

  6. Ah, those Italian 'super heavy' tankettes are always a favourite of mine:)! I always wondered why their tanks were so small, but having read Zaloga's book about them, they were restricted by the weight limits of italian bridges. Still always fun to use them, especially the ones 'upgraded' with a 20mm Solothurn AT rifle/gun.

Excellent work on those ECW figures too and at least I have managed to get some painting in for the first time in a long time!

  9. I initially thought they may have just been an undersized kit, but those Italian tanks really are tiny and the Tiger puts them in perspective. The lates ECW regiment looks great too. Glad to hear your daughter is OK.

    1. Many thanks Lawrence there are some great pictures on the web on the CV33 with people , really an armour motorcycle, I understand part of the design was to reduce weight for the many weaker bridges in Italy ?
