Cumberland Yeomanry : VBCW

Phew.......... bit of a slog but I have finally finished the Cumberland Yeomanry Cavalry. Pretty happy with the result. The Black Tree Boers are definitely a good base, head swops worked ok. Looking at them now I might have made more conversions but I always get too impatient. They are fairly generic so they can play in VBCW for a range of factions West Cumberland Mounted Farmers, the Melmerby Hunt or the Alston Mounted Brigade. They can also play as the Wealden Mounted  Homeguard in Sealion.

What next.................Panzers I think.

A couple of people have asked about the conversions, unfortunate the heads I stopped were cut off older figures whose province I don't know, apart form the artillery man. The good news is most were just cut down, filed and rebuilt with green stuff. The head swops are ringed yellow below. Since posting this first I have since found that the French heads are actually renegade ww1 figures.

    1. Thanks, their first outing is likely to be as the Alston Mounted Brigade, so horses will probably trip up and go lame !

    2. Dave I have added a photo, most just cut down from the original to turn them into cloth caps.

  5. I hadn't even thought to look on Black Tree for VBCW horsemen let alone in their Boer war section - definitely doing this in the future. I second David's question - where are the heads from?

    1. Thanks Mike these black tree were really quite nice sculpts, they do foot boers as well which might be useful in some form. I post a list of the conversions where I know them.

    2. Mike I have added a photo, the good news is most are cut down from original. Have hunted on the net but can't locate the WW1 General figure although I do have a third, which is why I didn't mind cutting the heads off a couple.😀

  6. They really do look the part. I wouldn't have guessed they were conversions, nor Boers, if I hadn't known already.
    Very nice work Matt.

    1. Thanks Roy, when I looked at them the beards were the main issue so all the clean shaven figures were ok but the majority of beards had to have their heads cut off !

    2. Ah yes, the hirsute Victorian beard. That might have looked out of place in the C20th :D
