I wanted mainly black but they needed some contrast and the Red was out having done the AWI british, this is sadly how I work pretty random really. These are based as per my other units in 6’s so they can play in a range of games. Although they have a range of different shields I thought the blue also gave some cohesion to the unit ?
This chap was based and undercoated so I got him painted up as well.
And for those interested I got out on my bike again today, despite the weirdness at the moment I just have to remember how lucky I am this shot is looking out over the Eden Valley towards the Pennines....and so few cars at the movement is great.
Keep painting, hopefully another virtual game tomorrow ð
these look great, big fan of random, inspirational, paint colours. Eden valley is lovely
ReplyDeleteThanks Martin, sometimes I know what colours I am going to use others times I grab the next pot. ðĪŠ

ReplyDeleteThe blue compliments. the black robes really well. Nice work Matt.
DeleteThanks Phil I quite liked your cryptic auto correct comment but......I guessed what you meant KBO as they say ð
DeleteBeautiful Black Guard and beautiful landscape! Shieldwork is especially fine. Glad to see you are still out on the bike. With a chance of rain and temps in mid-50sF on Saturday, I may be back in the garage on the trainer.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jonathan hopefully back out this weekend if weather holds ðĪ
DeleteExcellent work!
ReplyDeleteThanks Michael ð
DeleteVery nice additions Matt! Decent landscape photo too.
ReplyDeleteThanks David....the photo was really just a snap and it doesn’t do the Eden valley justice at all the back drop of the Pennines when in the sunshine is quite spectacular
DeleteVery nicely done Matt. the question I am thinking is how can you get such lovely stuff out so quickly, but the question I will ask :-) is what sized bases are you using for the 6 figure arrangement?
ReplyDeleteThanks Norm the bases are 60mm square, they don’t fit any particular convention but we’re chosen to be able to mix and match with my six man movement trays. I think I did post a picture ages ago. This basically gives me 18 man units or 12 man 7nits which have the same frontage. I quite like the six man size as shown above as there is enough space to make the unit slightly irregular in appearance. As to the speed of painting, I thin, the key elements of productivity for me in no particular order are. Having a designated space, having lots of projects on the go giving variety, I don’t fuss too much about detail, I have a standard style which I don’t change I get a real buzz from completing a unit.....ð
DeleteBrilliant work Matt, most beautiful Black Guard...
ReplyDeleteThanks Phil ð
DeleteGreat stuff Matt. Great to see how a game can stimulate that extra painting push.
ReplyDeleteCheers
Stu
Thanks Stu.....ð
DeleteThey're a fearsome looking lot, lovely work Matt. Stunning view too.
ReplyDeleteThanks Michael, really they were pretty quick and cheerful and I am just lucky I live somewhere beautiful ð
DeleteLovely looking black guard, the blue works really well on the shields and I'm pretty much the same about colour, certainly when having irregular troops standing by on the painting tray! Great landscape shot too!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Thanks Iain the good thing about the arabs is I have freedom to pick any colour scheme I fancy !
DeleteVery nice Matt....
ReplyDeleteI like the colour scheme...
All the best. Aly
Thanks Aly nice to be use colours that don’t see much uasge
DeleteReally great looking Arabs, Matt. Nice new wheels too!
ReplyDeleteThanks Dean, sadly or lucky for my bank balance whilst I did get some new tyres the bike isn’t too new ðĪ
DeleteReally nice painting. I have managed many Bike rides in this strange time. Feels good to get back on the saddle and reconnect with the outdoor world.
ReplyDeleteCheers
Thanks for looking and taking the time to comment....yep I find sanctuary in painting soldiers and cycling ð
DeleteThese are great Matt - different shield shapes and sizes dont matter at all - these types of troops would have had no uniformity in any case I am sure! The mounted figure is excellent too
