I have been looking for an appropriate Panzer III for my early war games, so when Rubicon brought out their new model the middle of last year I picked one up. It has sat waiting to be built and put into action. Having seen a couple of other bloggers getting new tanks completed spurred me on so here she is.
Panzer III Ausf. E complete with super powerful 3.7cm cannon ? not sure where it has been those tracks look a bit rusty ! The beauty of early war is the uncomplicated paint scheme. The communication aerial is oversize and not part of the kit but I wanted something robust.
I will take a ‘collection’ shot next time the German Armour box is at hand 😀
Superb looking tank.
ReplyDeleteThanks Neil it’s a nice kit and the paint job very simple 👍
DeleteSuper stuff Matt, look forward to seeing it in action, the plucky Brits perhaps not so.
ReplyDeleteAbout time we had some tanks on the table ! So let’s see how she does
DeleteLooks great, Matt! I love the early war stuff.
ReplyDeleteThank you 👍
DeleteA nice piece of kit.
ReplyDeleteEarly German war armour is lovely in my view
Deletelovely tank
ReplyDeleteThanks 👍
DeleteGood work on a workhorse of a vehicle. Very convincing.
ReplyDeleteMany thanks hopefully she can get into battle soon !
DeleteExcellent model, can’t wait to see it in action! And super powerful 37mm, indeed ;)
ReplyDeleteV/R,
Jack
Thanks and slightly worried by the gun but as long as it is up against British Vickers the gun will be fine
DeleteAwesome Early-War Panzer, Matt. Love the look in grey. BTW, I am thinking about getting an 88mm flak gun from Rubicon - along with a DAK crew.
ReplyDeleteThanks Dean I have an 88 in the queue as well, but picked up the warlord version which i think is without the carriage 🤔
DeleteLovely model and as you say, no real painting hurdles with this era.
ReplyDeleteAgree about the excess parts and things going straight to the re-cycle bin, but the fact we think about such things is an interesting aspect of our awakening to consumption / recycling / environment effects etc.
On that same note, having had a lock down year of more internet buying, it is interesting to see a line falling between suppliers who think about recyclable packaging and those that don't. I suppose it is up to us to reward those that do.
Thanks Norm and I guess we all need to be more mindful of the impact of our hobby I am growing increasing cross when I order figures and they arrive in a box and in a blister as well !
DeleteLovely work Matt!
ReplyDeleteGood looking Pz III Matt, nice highlights. Well done!
ReplyDeleteMust pick up one myself.
'Early war paint scheme' means two tone grey/brown to me...don't get me started on it...haha!
🤪
It’s a great little kit so options for Ausf F and G but I wanted an early version. As to the correct camo scheme, I’m afraid I am not too particular I tend to stick with simple grey and occasional two tone schemes which all have an early war feel
DeleteThat looks superb. The weathering effect is brilliant.
ReplyDeleteRegards, James
Very kind James, black undercoat, fairly heavy grey base layer, Agrax earthshade, then light grey dry brush. Some slightly lighter dry brush and a tiny bit of silver dry brush. Very quick and simple.
DeleteA grand addition, despite being plaaaastic tatt. I'm sure it's lack of weight will be a telling factor in its demise...
ReplyDeleteThanks David luckily in 28 mm the plastic tanks fire just as well as their counterparts
DeleteA great looking PzKfw III Matt and I agree, there is something very satisfying about the earlier feldgrau paint scheme.
ReplyDeleteThanks Keith 👍
DeleteGreat job! 😀
ReplyDeleteThanks Stew many thanks 👍
DeleteNice tank Matt, always good to sneak in an extra to a collection once you have broken the back of it, that will go great in your sealion campaign.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes
Stuart
I have been sneeking in extras for a while now, I’m not sure I will ever get all my german armour onto the table at one time ?
DeleteLovely looking pz3, I thought early war panzer grey was a bit bluer, but obviously it's got a layer of dust on it, I kind of like the extras you get with the rubicon kits,I think I can make another tank out of bits, a bit like Johnny Cash's psycho Billy cadillac!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Could well be but this one was rushed off and got a shoddy paint job in the factory 😀
