I had hoped to be fully recovered by now but this has been a tough one, I am on the mend but far from 100%. This means I have spent a lot of time (in fact all my time) in the last three weeks in the house or visiting the Doctor for some more drugs ! I am officially bored of being ill now. At least I feel well enough to paint so I have been getting on with prepping figures and painting. Not only Napoleonics but they are the things which have been finished. I have also had to much time to spend on eBay !
A third regiment of Portuguese infantry the 21st Reg. the last of my Warlord Portuguese at the moment
Also completed these two RHA guns. The one on the left is a Warlord model and very nice, the right one was a mistake off eBay I thought they were metal figures but when it arrived I was cross the find it was a 3d print. It was my fault so instead of sending it back I have painted it up, whilst the figures are fairly nice they are far too fragile and three of the figures have snapped their swords etc. I have tried to position them to avoid further damage.
Finally following the french parade I thought I should get the British out, it also helped me to organise the storage better. So here they are ….
I have managed just to keep the armies balanced as they have developed, although the British are slightly behind. Three reasonable brigades with some artillery and cavalry support. Like the french they need more command stands and artillery limbers which I am still pondering.
Just a quick update then, another french unit is on the way as are some British light dragoons.
Thanks for checking by Matt 🩷
Great looking Portuguese and horse artillery! The British force is looking good, my Austrians have fallen behind in the arms race but I keep on painting French! On the 3d print front the limbers I've got don't have too many small bits to break?
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Thanks Iain , not sure what it is about those french but building their forces seems very enticing. I’m still thinking about the limbers but I think I may be heading to the Perry’s. One danger is I have been thinking about Austrians !!!
DeleteGood to see that you are still alive! This has been a nasty illness for you. At least you have not been too sick to paint. Latest figures look great!
ReplyDeleteAlive just ! Still managing some hobby time.
DeleteMatt, I can’t believe how quickly your napoleonic force has grown - splendid. Interesting to hear that 3d parts can be a bit fragile.
ReplyDeleteThanks Norm, it is mainly the swords which are very thin (to scale) and hang off the body, I will be very careful if buying prints in the future.
DeleteVery pleased to hear you are over the worst and on the mend. A timely reminder to us all that we are not as young as we were. Your Napoleonic armies are buzzing along a treat, very inspiring.
ReplyDeleteThanks David each day I’m feeling a bit more perky 👍
DeleteThe older I get the more I find these bouts of illness are becoming more regular and take longer to overcome. Very frustrating, but at least you are getting some painting done. Lovely work and the 3D printed piece also came up well. I have a friend who is on his second 3D printer and was thinking about getting one myself, but the cleanup required, the maintenance of the printer and the fragility of the finished items has put me off a bit for now.
ReplyDeleteThanks Lawrence, I don’t think I would get the benefit of a printer myself, they clearly work well for some things, but these figures were too fragile as Wargames figures 🤔
DeleteGreat looking Portuguese troops, Matt! Sorry to hear of your illness. I've been not feeling 100 percent myself lately - ever since getting a bout of Covid a month or so ago. It's not bad, but my breathing (respiratory stuff) still doesn't feel like it was pre-Covid. Like a lingering thing. Anyway, wishing you get better soon!
ReplyDeleteThanks Dean…. A lot of covid around in the UK although I was negative when I tested this was just a good old chest infection !
DeleteGood to see news from you sir!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful miniatures work!
Thanks Michal 👍
DeleteSorry to hear you've been unwell. The collection looks to have progressed well. Is there a battle in the offing?
ReplyDeleteStephen
Thanks …hopefully we will see the Peninsular collection on the battlefield soon it is a bit overdue given the size of the two forces now !
DeleteVery nice toys Matt…
ReplyDeleteThe Portuguese have such lovely standards…
The collection is coming together at a fair old pace…
Good to hear that things have started to improve on the health front…
Do you think you will make it to Partizan?
All the best. Aly
Thanks Aly….don’t think I will be making Partizan this weekend the travel would be a little too far and I wouldn’t want to spend my day coughing over everybody…hope it is fun though 👍
DeleteGood to hear you are on the mend however slowly. The Portuguese are fine additions to the Nappy collection that you are amassing at a quick pace.
ReplyDeleteThanks Phil…on the mend slowly, the forces have really come on which shows what can be done with some focus 👍
DeleteExcellent units, and glad that you are on the mend
ReplyDeleteThanks …..some improvement but annoyingly slow at the moment
DeleteGreatro see the Brits on parade. I like the look of the Portuguese as well
ReplyDeleteThanks Neil 👍
DeleteSorry you are still ill. Brits look great
ReplyDeleteSome recovery but frustratIngly slow …..back to french this afternoon 👍
DeleteSorry to hear you are still suffering from the lurgy Matt:(. Fingers crossed you start to feel better soon. Great work on the Nappies figures, which really do look very good!
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about the illness, just got through my first visit by Covid. The figures are looking fantastic. Have you looked at Silver Bayonet at all, it seems you have figures already at hand to use with it. I myself dread doing Napoleonic figures with all the braid, etc.
ReplyDeleteShame that you are still a bit under the weather matt - its hung around for quite a while. :(
ReplyDeleteThe Epic cav look ok to me - maybe its just the angle, because I did think the ones Neil at Scottys Wargaiming had painted looked a bit average (the sculpts, I hasten to add - NOT his painting!)
The Portugueses and British artillery look great too.
LOL - I just realised, the ECW Cav is in a different post - that's what happens when you are in catch up mode after a week on holiday with no internet availability!
