First up some gripping beast Norman knights as I gradually build up my Dark Age Forces, the bases are obviously not finished but I have bought some more of these movement trays to expand the collection. The figures came from a bring a buy a while ago, there is most of another unit as well and were less than 50p a figure π
Secondly I have managed to complete another persian infantry unit, these had been bothering me as I bought them ages ago from Black Tree there are 32 so as you can see I don’t have a tray big enough for them, I’ll probabaly make a split base for flexibility. I did have to ‘bend’ a few of the arms as they had a slightly annoying angle
A final indulgence as I was putting away the last Sealion game I took the opportunity to reorganise a few boxes and when I had packed this box I just couldn’t help taking a photo to share.
More to come as I have a few games to catch up on. But this evening we are playing another ACW game π
Looking forward to write-ups. I have the same useful plastic boxes as your tanks are in. The other day, I bought some of that ‘sticky back’ plastic stuff with a dark pattern on it and lines the inside walls of a few useful boxes, just to reduce light hitting the contents. I don’t know whether that is an over precaution as gamers seem to get away with having their collections in glass display cabinets without the issue of light fading, even to flags.
ReplyDeleteThanks Norm, the sticky plastic sounds like an interesting idea, but would think it is only necessary if you keep your figures in direct sunlight. Not a problem I have in the dungeonπ
DeleteThat was a nice bargain to get hold of.
ReplyDeleteIt's hot here in Toledo too, with paint drying almost as soon as it's on the brush.
Thanks...I feel bad complaining about the hot weather as it is pretty rare in northern England
DeleteYou have been busy! A always enjoy seeing you Dark Age project getting attention and really like yor BTD Persians. BTD always have some odd throwing arm poses. Good to see that a small torque can bring them back to reality. Nice box of German armor.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to your ACW game.
Thanks Jonathan, the arm bends worked fairly well I slightly overdid one which neede repair, but they do have some flex. The ones I didn’t like were the figures holding their spears off at 45 degrees.
DeleteGreat looking collections!
ReplyDeleteThanks Bruce for taking the time to look and feedback.π
DeleteCool. Even I've done a bit of painting
ReplyDeleteGood man ...little and oftenπ
DeleteLove it!
ReplyDeleteThanks Michal π
DeleteThose Normans are superb
ReplyDeleteThanks Neil, not everybody like them but I think the GP figures are really nice chunky and easy to paintπ I especially like it when the shields are already attached
DeleteYou have been busy - What with the heat and humidity painting has been light over here... Great additions to both forces.
ReplyDeleteCheers
Stu
Thanks Stuart I do still try and do a bit most days π
DeleteThey look superb!
ReplyDeleteThanks Michael
DeleteNice Normans and Persians, I like your box of Jerry armour, they look great,no real painting my end what with family holidays and heat,I have been prepping up figures though so progress has been made!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Thanks Iain yes prep work plays a useful role when painting feels too much π
DeleteGreat looking Normans and Persians. I still remember my buddy regretting getting so many Norman foot knights for WAB - expensive and not as good as mounted knights :) They are lovely to look at though. Very cool looking AFVs too!
ReplyDeleteThanks Dean....I am gradually building up a stronger force of Normans to fight both Saxons and to double up in early crusades or battles in Spain around 1100 π
DeleteNice units and organizing is part of the process. It’s funny to me you posted some Normans as I was just thinking about my stalled Hastings project.
ReplyDeleteThanks Stew.....as mentioned above my Norman’s are being built for three potential option, against Saxons in Northern Europe, in the first crusade and also for battles in Spain around 1100...very flexible
DeleteGreat stuff Matt, like the Persians, must be more Blood in the Sand in the offing?
ReplyDeleteThanks Phil yes always building my ancient forces, little by little I will be able to field a full persian army π
DeleteDR does great for LoTR. Nice game. And I was just thinking about restarting my stalled Osgiliath project. π
ReplyDeleteThanks so many fun project ps to progress , I have to say I haven’t painted any LOTR for a while but I do have some Gondor cavalry prepped up ready to goπ
DeleteNice work on the figures but a shame some are plastic tatt! I like the wargamer’s OCD packing picture!
ReplyDeleteHa David much as I love plastic and will not allow myself to dragged into a long debate over whether metal or plastic are better. These are all wonderfully heavy π so even purists would be able to field them without embarrassment π
